How does it work?
The InCorporate Trainer helps you work more effectively and efficiently in English, whether it be delivering clearer presentations, participating in meetings with more confidence, or exchanging information faster and more accurately via email. You develop language and communication skills while you work.
The InCorporate Trainer solution is highly effective because your training takes place alongside your daily work. Your trainer uses your work situation as the basis for your learning. Learning while you work means that you can easily transfer your learning to your job.
The InCorporate trainer in action
Jennie was part of the Target team for 11 years. During that time she worked exclusively with a software R&D client, delivering in-house business English training as an InCorporate Trainer. There were 110 participants on her program based in different offices.
which leads to you receiving practical, specific feedback…
which leads to relevant and targeted group- and 1-1 training…
and this secures the transfer of learning to the workplace.
Delivering on-the-job support
Jennie shadowed a specification review meeting between 5 German developers and their 4 Indian colleagues. Just being in the room for the last 20 minutes of the meeting encouraged the learners to consider and implement some of the more recent training on the language and communication techniques for meetings. This had an immediate and positive influence on the participants’ performance and made the meeting leaner and more efficient.
Giving feedback
Jennie took 10 minutes to give feedback after the meeting and reviewed and expanded on the common mistakes and problems. She highlighted the two areas where most participants struggled – disagreeing diplomatically, and trying to explain complex opinions. Jennie then spoke with the team leader who had moderated the meeting, about boosting his moderation skills in English. Then she returned to her desk to prepare written feedback on the common errors, along with useful phrases that could be used next time and some self-study tasks. This way, she reinforced the learning and connected it to actual business needs.
Ensuring classroom training is relevant and targeted
Over the next two months, Jennie focused on helping the client make their meetings more productive and more efficient. She worked closely with the engineers to practice key language, in role-plays and in their actual meetings. Additionally, the engineers set up a database of phrases which they began to fill with useful expressions they used and heard others using.
Transferring learning to the workplace
Finally, as agreed with the department managers, Jennie actively drove and supported the transfer of learning to the workplace. She did this through ongoing shadowing, offering brief refreshers directly before critical project meetings, and encouraging the line manager to ensure participants had the opportunity to practice the new skills. This meant that the learning transferred to the workplace led to a tangible improvement in the quality and outcomes of the clients meetings and teleconferences.

Business English in Action
English on the job – for the job
Our client has been a leading global provider of biogas plants since 1995. The company provides comprehensive solutions from one single source and has installed more than 500 plants worldwide. With a global customer base, being able to work in English has always been important. However the German parliament’s decision in 2014 to substantially reduce biogas subsidies made the need to sell and deliver globally a business-critical challenge. Being able to work confidently in English was now a must.
We developed a blended approach based around the core strengths of the InCorporate Trainer solution – flexibility, tailored training and on-the-job support. Business English training became job-specific and practical. When staff needed to write documents and mails, join meetings, or make calls, our trainer proactively provided on-the-job support. This then led to feedback, which in turn was used to further customize the focus and content of scheduled training (seminars, 1-to-1 training, groups and online). Finally, regular updating and reporting meant that the client had transparency and control over their training investment.
“The implementation of the training concept was very easy. Because of the structure we were able to set up a schedule in a very short time, organize assessments, assess language skills and directly start with the training.”
C. B-L, Head of HR
